Starfire is finally available in Injustice 2, assuming you have the deluxe or ultimate edition of the game, or else have purchased Fighter Pack 1. We learned in yesterday’s Watchtower livestream that Starfire is going to be one of the best choices for beginners, as her combos and special moves don’t require expert timing, fancy cancels, or complex inputs to pull off. If you’re a Teen Titans fan looking to take it easy and look flashy in the process, then Starfire is your girl.

Today we have starter combos, intro highlights, her arcade ending, and finally, Starfire’s super move inspiration, which you’ll see is taken directly from Teen Titans!

Check out the video above to get a brief introduction to Starfire’s bread-and-butter combos. All of the combos above can be pulled off with simple inputs, which are even listed for you up top. Pull up this video on your phone while you hit up practice mode, and practice these basic combos from both sides of your opponent until they’re ingrained into your muscle memory. Then you’ll be ready for online.

Don’t forget to keep your ears open, though. Starfire has some of the best opening dialogue lines in the entire game. Check out the new highlight video below, which captures a special shoutout to Starfire’s wildest buddy: Beast Boy!

Starfire Intro Highlights

We’ve already seen that NetherRealm and DC reached pretty deeply into the Teen Titans canon for many of Starfire’s opening dialogue lines. Earlier we saw her pay lip service to Trigon, Raven’s demonic father, and wondered whether we might see Raven and her father show up as DLC.

This time around we get to see Starfire interact with Cyborg. Despite Cyborg’s leaving to join Superman’s regime, things seem to be kept on a fairly civil level between the two. Civil, but still competitive. When fighting Catwoman and Vixen, you’ll hearย Starfire offer a little shoutout to her furry friend Beast Boy. And speaking of Beast Boy, if you missed the video yesterday of Starfire’s arcade mode ending, we’ll embed it for you below. Warning: it’s really dang sad, and explains the fate of Starfire’s fellow Titans in a less-than-cheerful way.

The Fate of the Titans

If you play through the arcade mode with Starfire, after toppling Brainiac, you’ll be treated to this extremely melancholy ending video. Starfire’s typically cheerful and silly personality has been put aside for now, and she takes a few moments to miss her best friends. Her fellow four Titans are all gone.

Robin —ย Starfire’s Robin, anyway — is dead. Beast Boy has been apparently missing for a very long time, and Starfire even goes so far as to assume that he’s dead as well. Raven has sadly decided to join her father Trigon, by her own accord or due to coercion we can’t be sure. Cyborg is still alive, but he’s fighting on the wrong side of history.

Still, things aren’t all doom and gloom for Starfire in the end. She has met new friends as part of the new Justice League, and pizza parties are still in the cards. It’s a bittersweet ending for sure, and one that really hit us hard in the feels.

Let’s lighten the mood by checking out Starfire’s super move. Yeah, we know you’ve seen it before, but you’ve never seen it like this. Did you know it was inspired almost frame-by-frame by a Teen Titans action sequence? Check out the proof below!

Starfire’s Super Move Inspiration

This is going to give so many of you that “AHA!” feeling. The first time we saw Starfire’s super move in her reveal trailer we knew that it seemed familiar, but we couldn’t quite put our finger on it. YouTuber SinX6 has finally put us out of our misery. The bulk of her super move is taken almost frame-for-frame from the Teen Titans intro sequence! Check it out above, where both versions are compared side by side.

NetherRealm Studios continues to amaze us. When we reviewed Injustice 2 we gave it a perfect score for its over-the-top cinematic campaign, its breathtaking visuals, and its seemingly unending fan service. These guys knew exactly what DC Comics fans wanted out of a fighting game, and they continue to give it to us in spades. It’s little touches like this that make the game an endless delight for DC fans.

Will we see any more Titans as DLC?
