If you’re looking forward to the release of Kingdom Hearts 3 and the Final Fantasy VII Remake anytime soon, you may have to wait a bit longer, depending on what your definition of “soon” is when waiting for Square Enix games.

In a recently released report from Square Enix that detailed the developer’s financial earnings from their fiscal year that ended on March 31, both of the highly anticipated games made their way into slides that were included in the financial briefing. There wasn’t an exact date affixed to the upcoming titles, but Yosuke Matsuda, the CEO and president of Square Enix, gave a bit of insight into when the company expects to have these games out on the market.

“This slide shows our release lineup for FY2017/3 as well as for FY2018/3 and beyond,” Matsuda wrote in the financial report. “We plan to launch each of these upcoming titles in the next three years or so.”

Below, you can see the full slide that depicted several of the projects that the company plans to have out within that timeframe. Other images on the left of the slide mention games already released by Square Enix that did well recently, but the real ones to look for are the two big-name titles nestled between other games.

That news does sound all well and good for those who just want some news about the games, but the somewhat concerning part of the speculation lies in the “or so” part. The Final Fantasy VII Remake was announced during last year’s E3, and the announcement of Kingdom Hearts 3 came during the E3 of 2013. With such a gap already created between the times of the announcement and the loosely projected release dates, we can only hope that the “or so” part of the news means they will be released sooner rather than later.

At least for one of the games, the release date might indeed come later than we’d hope. We recently reported on the status of the development of the Final Fantasy VII Remake with some disheartening news that the there had been mentions of “starting production” on the game as Square Enix’s Business Division 1, the team behind the remake, was posting some recruitment messages in order to enlist help on the project. They mentioned that the process of upgrading the game today’s standards was one that would take some time, and they hoped to tighten up that timeframe by recruiting help and getting the game out as quickly as possible.

More news of the Square Enix projects, such as a trialer or a more firm release date, may be revealed during E3.
