League Of Legends' Rift Rivals Introduces New Player Icons

The new League of Legends cross-regional competition called Rift Rivals is right around the corner, but even if you're not big on the professional scene, you can still rep your region in-game with some new Rift Rivals icons that are now available for purchase with your hard-earned IP.

Rift Rivals is a brand new tournament circuit that was announced in May, a couple of games that pit nearby regions against each other to finally help settle old rivalries between regions. This is the first year that the Rift Rivals competitions will take place, but it's already been said by Riot Games that they're shooting to have the event next year as well, so just because a region wins their rivalry, it doesn't mean the heated contests are fully put to rest.

If you want to rep your region with the icons, you'll actually be having both your region and their direct competitor on your icon. For example, the EU/NA are both on one icon, the LCK/LPL/LMS are on one icon, and so on. They come in a couple of different colors depending on which region you need the icon for, but if you have the icon on your profile when your region plays and (hopefully) wins, you'll be awarded with a special new icon to commemorate the occasion. This shiny new golden icon will feature the handsome Rift Rivals logo as well as your region's name at the bottom of the icon so that you can remind your regional opposites for an entire year who was victorious in the first Rift Rivals competition. All you have to do to receive the special icon is equip your region's icon and play a game during the tournament period, and the rest is up to your region to win their games.

Those players who checked earlier in the story and saw the icons might've seen that they were on sale for 250 RP much like a new icon typically is. However, that price was a mistake, and has since been fixed. Riot wants as many players as possible to support the upcoming event and root for their team, so the Rift Rivals icons will be on sale for the low price of 1 IP. These icons will be on sale from June 29-July 11.
