Is the Madden curse real? If you’re an athlete lucky enough (or is it unlucky enough?) to appear on the cover of an EA sports Madden NFL game, does that necessarily damn you to a terrible season or damn you to injury? Some people seem to think so. In fact, a lot of people swear that the Madden curse is real, so the NFL decided to take things into its own hands and present the data in a sweet little video. Check it out right here, and see for yourself whether or not you have cause to be concerned:

Let’s settle this once and for all…

As you can see, it’s pretty divided down the middle. The cursed athletes versus the non-cursed were almost exactly evenly divided, with a handful of pretty mediocre seasons and performances thrown in. What does this mean for Tom Brady?! If you’re a huge Patriots fan, then I’m sure you’re hoping for another Super Bowl ring on that man’s finger next February. If you hate the Pats, then I’m sure you’re rolling your eyes and swearing that Brady will somehow cheat himself out of the curse.
If you want to try to look ahead into the future, there’s no better way than with Madden NFL 18, which just hit store shelves earlier today. Many of you took off work for the occasion, while many others have yet to experience a Madden game. No matter who you are, this Madden is brand new, running on a brand new engine (Frostbite), with some overhauled mechanics. EA swears that you’ve never played anything like it.
“With Madden NFL 18, old fans, new fans and casual fans alike will all find something that appeals to them in this year’s edition of the game,” said Madden NFL 18 Executive Producer, Seann Graddy. “Every year we try to push Madden NFL further than we did the year before and this year with Tom Brady on the cover who has embodied the Longshot story in his career, Frostbite, MUT Squads, new gameplay mechanics and more, we’re giving fans the greatest NFL gaming experience ever.”
Get out there and simulate a season if you’re worried about your beloved Tom Brady. The AI in these games is pretty stunning, so it could give you a pretty good idea of what to expect this year!
