Fight of Gods is an Early Access fighting game that, in all honesty, none of us would have heard or known about if not for this controversy. A few days ago we reported that as the game swung into Early Access, a new launch trailer was released revealing that Jesus Christ had been added as a playable character. The trailer showed several clips of Jesus and the Buddha duking it out, and the Malaysian government isn't laughing. In fact, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission has cut off access to the entire Steam Store because of it.

According to lowyat.net, the MCMC has "deployed a DNS block to the store.steampowered.com domain, affecting all Malaysians using the TM DNS." Users have tried all kinds of tricks and workarounds to access the tore, but to no avail. The MCMC has issued a statement to Valve requesting that Fight of Gods be geoblocked from the region within 24 hours, threatening further action if they fail to do so. Users can currently play the games already in their Steam library, but they can no longer access the store.

To be clear, this means that Steam and PC gamers in Malaysia are no longer to search for or buy anything on the Steam store due to this one game. The developers of Fight of Gods were no doubt banking on its controversial roster in order to gain some notoriety and word-of-mouth promotion, but now we have to believe that Steam will step in and delist the game since it will be costing them an entire demographic's worth of potential revenue.

Say what you want about the game and its roster; these guys definitely succeeded in getting the world out. Fight of Gods has infiltrated an over-saturated fighting game market and ended up making headlines, and gameplay footage reveals and more-than-competent fighter for those looking to purchase the game. It's obviously still available in the US, and if you're not totally disgusted by its roster, you can check it out right here.
