At this year’s Disney D23 Expo, Marvel announced that they’d be lending their characters to the new Oculus Rift-exclusive title, Marvel Powers United VR. The game’s debut trailer showcased four characters (Hulk, Captain Marvel, Rocket Raccoon, and Ronan the Accuser) and they’re only a small portion of the game’s roster – Oculus is promising 12 in all, and just revealed another exciting addition. Hold onto your chimichangas, because Marvel Powers United is about to get a whole lot more mouthy!

Yes, Marvel Powers United VR players will get to slash and sass as none other than Deadpool. I’m sure you’re already well-acquainted with the Merc with a Mouth, but here’s how Oculus describes him:

“Crack wise and crack skulls as you wield katanas and hand cannon pistols—because why bring a knife to a gunfight when you can have both? Wade Wilson was a former special forces operative who was recruited into the Weapon X program for genetic experiments. The program’s experiments imbued him with incredibly accelerated regenerative powers which have granted him virtual immortality. Turning to mercenary work and armed with his favorite hand cannons, twin katanas, and a mouth full of motivational speeches, he’s the cheerleader and unstoppable assassin of the team.”

Deadpool is a somewhat surprising addition, as he’s technically part of the X-Men universe, and his movie rights are owned by Fox. Marvel has shown some reluctance to showcase X-Men characters, excluding them from Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite and other licensed games.

Folks attending this year’s San Diego Comic-Con 2017 will get to try out Marvel Powers United VR, featuring playable characters Hulk, Captain Marvel, Rocket Raccoon, and Deadpool. Marvel Powers United VR arrives exclusively for Oculus Rift headsets in 2018.
