The Ultra Beasts are coming to the Pokemon Trading Card Game. A new expansion for the popular trading card game was just announced in Japan, with a slotted release date of September 2017.

As with most trading card expansions in Japan, the new cards will be divided into two sets. The first set, “The Awoken Hero”, will feature the artifical Pokemon Silvally, while “The Transdimensional Beast” will feature the Ultra Beast Guzzlord. Each set contains 50 new cards plus an undisclosed number of Secret Rare cards.

Both sets will be merged together for a US and European release, with a planned release date in November 2017. Since new Pokemon card expansions come out once per quarter, this will probably be the last expansion set we get in the United States and Europe in 2017…although Japan could still get one more expansion in December.

The new expansion joins an already busy year for the Pokemon Trading Card game. While the US and Europe is just weeks removed from the release of the “Guardians Rising” set, Japan is about to see the release of a major expansion that features fan-favorite Pokemon like Charizard, Butterfree, and Ho-Oh.
