If you’re as avid an addict, err…player of League of Legends as our WWG staff is, then you likely have, at some point, run into a bug that has made you want to throw your PC out the window. The game’s low system requirements have always, in general, made it an easily accessible one for most potential players, but it also has had the “downside” of getting players used to excellent performance. Players often get FPS above 100 while playing the game, even on the best settings, and that makes it quite obvious — and painful — when issues do arise with the game.

Well, for a totally luckless segment of the player base, that’s no longer the case. The move to Patch 7.9 seems to have caused a huge issue in the game’s ability to maintain optimal FPS a large number of players that seem to have nothing in common. The affected players have found their FPS hard capped at 60 FPS, regardless of their graphics settings, and the game often dips into the 30 FPS range for those players during teamfights, which makes it quite difficult to play well. The majority of affected players seem to be MAC players, but there’s also plenty of Windows users who are having the problem as well.

At the moment, there seems to be no fix available, as the problem has only recently been brought to the attention of Riot Games. If you are amongst the players who are affected, then the current advice from Riot Games is simply to wait out the issue, which they hope to get resolved by patch 7.10.

WWG’s Matt Best was far from happy when he found out about the issue. “Now listen. We all know that League of Legends isn’t a graphics intensive game. You can pretty much run this game on your average computer. However, seeing that many computers have been running into this issue, it’s absurd that Riot hasn’t fixed it yet. People that have 1080’s and 1070’s and high-end graphics cards are struggling to run the game and that’s unacceptable. We often complain about in game things that need to be fixed but how can we complain about the game if we can’t even get it to play properly? This needs to be the number one thing on Riot’s priority list. This needs to be fixed.”
