As more and more third party support continues to lend itself to the growing library that the Nintendo Switch has to offer, the interest in what’s next for the Big N continues to rise. With the hype of Star Wars Battlefront II on the horizon, many Switch owners have been curious if the EA/DICE title will be making its way to their preferred platform as well. According to one EA producer, the answer isn’t a hard no.

More and more surprising titles keep showing up for the Switch, such as Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus and DOOM, which begs the question: Is Star Wars Battlefront II next? It’s not a no, but it’s not a promising “yes” either.

In a recent interview with GameSpot, Motive Studios producer David Robillardย said that EA hasn’t say the opportunity couldn’t come up, but they do have some stipulations.

“This is something we’ll explore if we see opportunities there, but it is not something that’s on the book right now.” A big concern he mentioned was that the game itself utilizes the Frostbite Engine that the Switch has yet to provide support for. Games like DOOM and Wolfensteinย 2 have been graphically scaled down to fit the Big N’s console, but EA is unsure as to whether or not they want to go that route for the sake of the Nintendo Switch market.ย

Star Wars Battlefront II is set to launch for Xboxย One, PlayStation 4, and PC this November – so if the title does shimmy its way on over to the Nintendo platform, it’ll be awhile before anyone sees it. Still, it does provide a little hope for those wanting to use the Switch’s unique features, such as the Joy-Con support and touch screen, for a title like Battlefront II. Especially so now that more and more details of the story campaign continue to be unveiled.ย
