PAX West is just a few weeks away, taking place in Seattle, Washington in the beginning of September. The show is shaping up with a who’s who of exhibitors, including both big and indie companies, as well as a number of superstar panels.

But perhaps what’s more surprising is that it’s becoming a place for surprise reveals. And the latest one that’s in the cards for the show is the introduction of the latest project by game director Hidetaka Suehiro, also known as “Swery65.”
If the name sounds familiar, it’s because Swery is the mastermind behind the cult favorite Deadly Premonition, which has become one of this previous generation’s underappreciated hits. He also made the fun Xbox release D4: Dark Dreams Don’t Die. We’re not sure what new direction his game will take, but it’s sure to be fascinating.
Here’s the description of his panel, which will take place at the Wyvern Theater on Saturday, September 2nd starting at 4:30 PM PDT:
“Coffee Time With Swery65
How I design games, what I get inspiration from, why I became a monkโฆ
And at the end, I’ll announce my first new game in three years, the first since D4: Dark Dreams Don’t Die!
I will have a cup of coffee at the talk, so please bring your cup of coffee as well. When you first come up to ask me a question, I’ll ask you about what kind of coffee you like. I don’t care who you are, if you don’t love coffee like I love coffee, I’ll ask you to leave.
(Pending policy approval from PAX management)”
Maybe not mention you’re not a fan of coffee if you’re called up. Maybe just say StarBucks cappuccino or something like that. I’m sure he won’t grill you too much.
We’ll let you know what Swery has in mind once he makes his announcement, but, whatever it is, it should get his new company of White Owls Inc. off the ground with ease โ and, hey, there’s always a chance it’ll be in the same vein as Deadly Premonition. Fingers crossed!
PAX takes place from September 1st through the 4th.
