Yahoo! Movies’ Kevin Polowy recently had the opportunity to sit down with Tom Holland, star of the upcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming, and eventual star of the Uncharted movie. You may remember our report stating that Holland would play a young Nathan Drake as part of an all-new origin story, and fan feedback was pretty much unanimously positive over that casting decision. But what about Drake’s mentor and partner in crime, Sully?

If you skip down to the last minute of the interview, you’ll hear that Holland initially spits out Jake Gyllenhaal’s name as a potential candidate. He goes on, though, saying: “I actually went to the Jurassic World film set the other day to visit my friend who’s directing it, and Chris Pratt is on that film… and I think he would be a great Sully. If it was an older movie I’d say that Christ should play Nathan, but I think he would be a cool Sully.”

Holland says that he and Pratt get along really well, and that he would love to work with him. He and his co-star will need some good chemistry, since the bulk of the story will revolve around Nathan Drake’s first encounters with veteran fortune hunter Sullivan. We can only imagine what kind of hilarious scenes will play out as Sully teaches a young Nathan how to be proper thief. With that in mind, it’s pretty fun imagining Pratt and Holland playing off of one another.

Holland also discusses the origins of the project prior to this, saying that it arose rather organically out of a conversation between himself and director Shawn Levy. Rather than shooting for a one-to-one recreation and re-telling of the events in the Uncharted games, the pair concluded that an origin story could be more fun, and give fans something new to sink their teeth into.

The Uncharted movie, at this point, is still very much a mystery to us. We do like how the cast seems to be coming together, though, and we admit that we wouldn’t mind seeing Chris Pratt on the big screen alongside Holland as a fleet-handed duo. We’ll update you as soon as we learn more.
