Even though the original Turok: Dinosaur Hunter came out over two decades ago, many people still hold it to a high standard when it comes to its first-person shooting thrills – and soon, it looks like a new audience will be able to enjoy what it has to offer.
According to our good Internet friend Wario64, a PEGi rating has been passed on for Turok on Xbox One, with Nightdive Studios serving as the game’s developer. A release date wasn’t given, but the game was officially given a “16” rating, indicating “Realistic looking violence.”

The game was a smash hit when it came out on Nintendo 64 back in 1997, followed by the hit sequel Turok 2: Seeds of Evil and other Turok games. Nightdive recently released the original Turok for PC back in 2015, where it had quite a resurgence. Last year, it followed suit with a port of Turok 2 for Steam/PC as well.
Nightdive had previously stated it was interested in bringing both Turok and Turok 2 to Xbox One, but didn’t reveal any other details about the ports. It appears that with an official rating, the games could arrive at some point this year – bringing all the old-school, dino-killing thrills we’ve come to expect from the old Acclaim series.
We reached out to Nightdive to see if we could get some kind of release window on the games, but, for now, we can only dream about finishing off a few raptors with a bow and arrow set. Or, hey, you could play the games on Steam right now, with the original available here for $4.99 and Turok 2: Seeds of Evil available for $9.99.
