Two new Nintendo Switch exclusive games have been announced for release in 2026. Right now, neither has been announced for Nintendo Switch 2, but both will be playable on the new Nintendo console when they release via backward compatibility. This may seem odd, but there are many games still coming to Switch whilst skipping the Switch 2. Due to backward compatibility, there isn’t a ton of incentive to release a Switch 2 version unless the game can really benefit from the added power.

The first of these two Nintendo Switch games is called Artis, from developer Mas and published by Happinet. Right now, the turn-based RPG is available on PC, so this will be a Nintendo Switch console exclusive rather than a complete, full-blown exclusive for the console. That said, right now there is no word of a release date beyond “Spring 2026.”
Artis
Artis is pitched as a post-apocalyptic turn-based RPG inspired by retro turn-based RPGs of yesteryear. In addition to this, there are some life-sim and cozy elements mixed into the gameplay. In it, you play as Akane and explore a futuristic world where AI is as prominent as humans.
According to Steam User reviews, Artis is decent. Since its release on Steam back on August 7, it has attracted 1,546 user reviews, 83 percent of which are positive. This gives the game a “Very Positive” rating on Steam.
Chrono Ark
Like Artis, Chrono Ark is also going to be a console exclusive for Nintendo Switch, as the deck-building roguelike RPG is currently available on PC. The game has been available on PC since last year, and is now coming to console for the first time, thanks to a Switch release scheduled for January 29, 2026.
Developed by AI Fine and published by Playism, Chrono Ark, like Artis, has been received warmly since its release. To this end, it has a 93% approval rate and a “Very Positive” rating across 2,319 Steam user reviews. For those who know nothing about the game, it is pitched as a roguelike party-based RPG with deck-building elements. In it, you build a team of four heroes who are tasked with saving a twisted world from its chaotic end.
If neither of these games tickles your fancy, Nintendo Switch fans did just get news that a 2019 Nintendo Switch exclusive is returning this month with a new Switch 2 release, complete with new content. Meanwhile, another Nintendo Switch exclusive was announced to be released this November, and like the games above, there is no Switch 2 version. Suffice to say, the Nintendo Switch is still very relevant despite the launch of its successor earlier this summer.
