A free-to-play MOBA from Epic Games, Paragon will feature a cast of 33 heroes following Wukong’s release. The playable heroes range from the mythical to the robotic to the humanlike, and each one brings their own skills and abilities to the table in the third-person combat.
If you aren’t familiar with the story behind the mythical character of Wukong, he actually has a pretty compelling history that makes him a great fit for games such as this one and other MOBAs like League of Legends. His character comes from the 16th-century Chinese novel Journey to the West where it’s said that Wukong was hatched from a stone egg and is equipped with an insanely heavy staff that he can grow and shrink at will. He’s immensely powerful, quick on his feet, and best of all, he has a playful trickster attitude to round out his character. His lore is changed a bit for the game,
His lore is changed a bit for the game as he’s said to be a former companion of another hero called Feng Mao. Like Feng Mao, Wukong is a melee who’s abilities revolve around his powerful staff and his quick-wit skills:
- Control Aggression (E/Circle) – Passive: grants bonus CP to a random minion in the area upon last hit. Toggle: the Monkey King swaps between offensive and defensive stance. DEF – Defensive stance, OFF – Offensive stance.
- Staff of Legend (RMB/R1) – Extends his polearm. OFF: your polearm deals damage and pushes enemies back the length of the staff. DEF: Wukong plants his staff and launches himself into the air with a directional jump.
- Cloudwalker (Q/Square) – Passive: Grants the Monkey King a double jump (Spacebar/X). OFF: the jump will end with a slam into the ground which deals damage and slows enemies. DEF: he is able to walk on air following the double jump.
- 84,000 Hairs (R/Triangle) – When Wukong strikes a minion, hero or structure he will create a clone of himself. The clone cannot move and deals damage in a radius around itself. Damage dealt by clones is based on a percentage of Wukong’s damage.
Wukong is set to be released on June 6. Paragon is free-to-play on PlayStation 4 and PC.
