The LEGO Star Wars UCS Death Star (#75419) has Star Wars fans and LEGO builders abuzz thanks to its record-breaking $1000 price tag and stable of 38 minifigures. The cutaway design has also been a point of controversy as many fans were hoping for a spherical model. Regardless, we have no doubt that it will sell quickly and become the crown jewel in many a Star Wars LEGO collection. If you’re a LEGO Insider, you can order the set here at LEGO now and receive some of the perks outlined below to take a little of the sting off of the sticker shock.

Note that is the third Death Star set that LEGO has released, with #10188 launching in 2008 with 3803 pieces and 24 minifigures and #75159 launching in 2016 with 4016 pieces and 27 minifigures. The new set ups the ante in a big way, clocking in at 9023 pieces with a whopping 38 minifigures. That tally puts it ahead of the UCS Millennium Falcon, which was the previous Star Wars record holder by piece count with 7541. It also exceeds the 31 minifigure count of the Marvel Avengers Tower. In terms of all-time piece count, it ranks 5th behind the LEGO Art World Map, LEGO Icons Eiffel Tower, LEGO Icons Titanic, and LEGO Icons Colosseum sets.
