Sideshow Collectibles has served up a sneak peek at several figures that will debut San Diego Comic-Con this weekend. However, none of the releases is as big as the K-2SO figure – and I mean that quite literally.

StarWars.com has revealed that the tall, lovable droid from Rogue One will be added to Sideshow’s life-size figure collection in the near future. Sideshow’s prototype will be on display at San Diego Comic-Con (booth #1929) along with a 1:4 scale version. Speaking with StarWars.com, Sideshow project manager Matt Bischoff notes:

The K-2SO project actually started way before Rogue One was released. We initially began working on a quarter scale K-2S0 piece months before the character was unveiled to the public. As K-2SO is an entirely CGI character, the laws of physics don’t need to apply, and getting our quarter scale version to stand proved to be extremely challenging. We had this head-scratching period while we figured out the structural challenges posed by Kaytoo and his unique shape. Meanwhile, we had this amazing, painstakingly-sculpted and engineered design by our own Aaron McNaught ready to rock, and we thought…let’s go big! We decided to push ahead and develop a massive 1:1 scale version of K-2SO based on Aaron’s designs. At that scale, we could control the weight distribution and balance with greater ease. We did a few passes, modified the pose slightly and did some tests with our large format printing partners, and he slowly came together. Seeing him stand for the first time was really something. We then brought in Sideshow artist Anthony Mestas and his impressive weathering and texturing skills to add more of Kaytoo’s beaten-up charm, and he was finally alive.

No pricing details have been announced, but you can expect the K-2SO figure to run in the $8-$9,000 range based on previous life-size Star Wars releases. Their life-size Darth Vader, for example, also stands over 7-feet tall and is priced at $8,900.

The Sideshow booth will also include a HotToys sixth scale Gladiator Thor from Thor: Ragnarok, a sixth scale Yondu figure from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and a sixth scale Grand Moff Tarkin figure from Star Wars. Teaser images for those three figures are available in the gallery.
