Guardians Of The Galaxy Ride Sneak Peek Released

As with any large-scale project, it all starts with blueprints and a model before any bulldozers ever hit the dirt, and Disney is giving fans a behind the scenes look at the model for their upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy theme park adventure.

The upcoming attraction is called Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: Breakout!, and the housing for the adventure is modeled after the Collector, as described by portfolio creative executive at Walt Disney Imagineering’s Joe Rohde (via Disney Parks).

“So the setting is a giant warehouse belonging to the collector, this huge power plant kind of a place, that’s surging with power and rising up into the sky and packed with all of his rare irreplaceable collections from around the world.”

It’s a building fit for someone of the Collectors stature, but more importantly, the collection he pines over constantly. The building is striking and quite imposing, and will stand out no matter what time of the day or night you happen upon it. That was an important part of the design.

“A lot of elements, reflective elements, gold and silver accents will be really I think beautiful to look at”, says executive producer at Walt Disney Imagineering John Mauro. ” Some of the piping and power references come from oil refineries and places like that. Our bright colors and styles that you might even see in comic books. We want to make sure that it has beauty both day and night. It really has a lot of different sort of design elements that all come together and create what’s really a very striking building. It’s going to look like a brand new attraction.”

As for the ride itself, it will build upon the freefall mechanic with new visual and audio effects, including the sweet sounds of the Guardian’s of the Galaxy soundtrack. It will also be a randomized experience, so even if you take part in the attraction multiple times, you should come out of it with a different experience. Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! is slated to open during the summer of 2017.
