Jeff Cannata sat down with actor Benedict Wong for ComicBook.com to talk about the character, and when asked if he would like to see himself in future films, Wong was all for it, and confirmed he would be appearing in at least one upcoming project.
“I’m thrilled I’m going to be in Infinity War. I’m looking forward to, I’ll tell you that one first.”
It’s already known that Doctor Strange is making an appearance in Avengers: Infinity War, and now there will at least be one familiar face. Like many of the actors drafted into Marvel films, he isn’t sure of what’s in store yet for his character, as when asked for any details about his appearance he said “no (laughs).”
He was quite shocked to learn that at one time Wong went through a “vampire” phase, but it’s doubtful that Marvel Studios or Derrickson will be going in that direction.
“Well it’s where both of them go now from there, from this launchpad into this multiverse, and its, ya know, I think we really grab you by both hands and drag you through this because it’s a visual feast for the eyes as you know and it’s definitely, it is something that you’ve got to go back and have a look at again, and I’m really looking forward to how it unfolds now.”
From Marvel Studios comes “Doctor Strange,” the story of world-famous neurosurgeon Dr. Stephen Strange whose life changes forever after a horrific car accident robs him of the use of his hands. When traditional medicine fails him, he is forced to look for healing, and hope, in an unlikely place โ a mysterious enclave known as Kamar-Taj. He quickly learns that this is not just a center for healing but also the front line of a battle against unseen dark forces bent on destroying our reality. Before long, Strange โ armed with newly acquired magical powers โ is forced to choose whether to return to his life of fortune and status or leave it all behind to defend the world as the most powerful sorcerer in existence.
“Doctor Strange” stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Rachel McAdams, Benedict Wong, Michael Stuhlbarg, Benjamin Bratt, and Scott Adkins, with Mads Mikkelsen and Tilda Swinton. Scott Derrickson is directing with Kevin Feige producing. Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Stephen Broussard, Charles Newirth and Stan Lee serve as executive producers. Jon Spaihts and Scott Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill wrote the screenplay.
Doctor Strange lands in theaters on November 4.
