One of Marvel‘s most anticipated television properties going into the fall season is easily Cloak and Dagger. The series – which is set to air on Freeform (formerly ABC Family) in early 2018 – captivated fans with its first trailer a few months ago. And now, it appears that filming is set to continue for the remainder of the Marvel Studios production.

A recent look at Production Weekly reveals that “Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger 02” is now among the listings, with the working title of “Shadows”. This listing confused some fans, as the numbers are usually referencing the season number that is filming. But contrary to early reports, the series is not already filming its sophomore season starting in July, but rather the remaining episodes of the first season.
Filming for the remaining nine episodes of Cloak & Dagger‘s first season is expected to run from July to October, giving around two weeks to film each episode. After Gina Prince-Bythewood – recently tapped to direct Silver and Black for Sony‘s Spiderverse – helmed the pilot episode of Cloak & Dagger, it’s unclear who will direct the remaining episodes of the season.
It is a coming-of-age series based on the beloved Marvel characters. Tandy Bowen (Olivia Holt) and Tyrone Johnson (Aubrey Joseph) come from starkly different backgrounds, each growing up with a secret they never dared share with another soul.
Once a privileged little girl, Tandy Bowen watched as her family was destroyed by a disastrous storm that uprooted her life. Now in her late teens, an unexpected encounter with a boy named Tyrone sparks a life changing event.
Young Tyrone Johnson wanted nothing more than to prove he was fearless. But when everything he held close was taken away, life taught Tyrone to be afraid. Now older and more sheltered, Tyrone closes himself off. But when he meets a girl named Tandy his life changes forever.
The cast also includes Andrea Roth (Blue Bloods) as Melissa Bowen, Tandy’s mom; Gloria Reuben (ER) as Tyrone’s mother, Adina Johnson; Miles Mussenden (Bloodline) as Tyrone’s father, Michael Johnson; Carl Lundstedt (Grey’s Anatomy) as Liam, Tandy’s partner in crime; James Saito (Life of Pi) as Dr. Bernard Sanjo, and J.D. Evermore (The Walking Dead) as Detective Connors.
