Imagine living in a world, where each and every day is turned into a random and obscure holiday that takes over your entire social media feed. Does that sound like a world you want to live in?

Well, it’s the one we’ve got, and today marks yet another holiday that you won’t find on a calendar. October 3 is now recognized as the day to celebrate the special guys in your life, or lack thereof.
#NationalBoyfriendDay is one of the top trending topics on Twitter and Facebook, so we thought it would be a great day to explore some of the boyfriends in vast world of Marvel movies.
If you want an example of how to be great to a lady, look no further than the Captain himself. Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, is one of the most faithful and sentimental dudes on the planet. After sacrificing himself for the good of mankind, he is woken up decades later. His girl is an old woman at this point, but he still shows up at her bedside with love in his eyes.
That’s a truly great man. Most of us, however, aren’t Captain America.
Instead of celebrating the good guys today, we want to give a shout out to the bad boys of Marvel. There have been plenty of terrible boyfriends throughout these films, but here’s a look at five of the worst.
Tony Stark
It’s no secret that Tony Stark isn’t the most loyal guy in the world. From the opening credits of Iron Man, Tony took pride in his ability to take home any woman in the world. Even after he and Pepper expressed a mutual interest, he had no problem sleeping with other women.
In Iron Man 2, Tony and Pepper were officially dating. Unfortunately for Pepper, he hasn’t really changed. As soon as Black Widow enters the equation, Tony is back to his quips about other women’s beauty. Pepper could take it, but only for a time.
As of Captain America: Civil War, Pepper had left Tony. She couldn’t deal with all of his lifestyle choices, and that’s super understandable.
If we’re being honest, she may have stuck around too long.
Wade Wilson
What should you do when you’re in a loving relationship, the best of your life, and you get cancer? What about when the woman you love still wants you anyway, and is willing to go to the edges of the Earth to find a cure for your illness?
If you’re Wade Wilson, you run as far away as you can.
Wade couldn’t comprehend that someone could love him so deeply, and he let his damaged psyche interfere with an otherwise perfect relationship. He ended up getting the cure for his cancer, but ruined the rest of his life in the process.
His choices didn’t just affect his emotional relationships, but they got his lady kidnapped in the climax of the film. Vanessa nearly died from attaching herself to Wade, but his charm and heroics were enough to keep her hanging around for the sequel.
To top it all off, he lives with another woman.
Charles Xavier
If you’re thinking Professor X could never be a bad boyfriend, you’re totally kidding yourself. Exhibit A: Moira MacTaggert.
Moira was an operative for the US government, and she fell for Charles in their time working together. After Magneto puts him in a wheelchair, Moira still sticks around to love him through it.
How does Charles repay her? Wiping his entire existence from her mind.
Good idea, Professor, roofie your girlfriend with your magic-mind and keep her from remembering you ever existed. Sounds like a great plan.
When are these guys going to learn that their girlfriends are around, because they actually like them. If Moira didn’t dig telekentic sorcerers in wheelchairs, she would have left on her own.
Peter Parker
Could a guy have a worse track record with women than Peter Parker? Seriously, the dude was always getting women tangled in his complicated webs.
Get it?
In the first Spider-Man trilogy, Peter is obsessed with Mary Jane. Okay, obsessed is an understatement, the kid is a total stalker. After years of trying, he finally gets the girl of his dreams to fall for him, and what does he do? Peter pushes her away.
He thought so little of the woman he loved that he didn’t even believe she could handle herself in a superhero’s life. What a tool.
In The Amazing Spider-Man films, Parker ruins another girls life. This time, though, it actually kills her.
After getting Gwen Stacy wrapped up in his complicated life, Pete makes a desperate, but asinine attempt to save her life. By grabbing her with webs, as she’s falling to her death, he breaks her back and kills her instantly.
Get it together, Pete.
Reed Richards
You may not think of Reed Richards as such a bad guy, but he’s among the worst.
If first strike comes for being driven by his work. No matter what Sue would tell him she needed, science came first.
Second strike is for never using his powers where is counted. The guy could literally expand any part of his body, and Sue never seemed too impressed.
His strike-out, however, comes with the most egregious sin of them all: Reed pulled Sue Storm into the Fantastic Four movies.
It doesn’t get much worse than that, ladies and gentlemen. By appearing in the three adaptations of Marvel’s oldest team-up, Sue may never get another Hollywood gig again. Just ask Jessica Alba.
Just kidding, rumour has it Dane Cook is working on a Good Luck Chuck sequel.
There you have it folks, the worst boyfriends in the Marvel movies. Have a very safe, and very happy, National Boyfriend Day.
