The wishes of Marvel fans around the world were granted this week, as the first poster for Black Panther was finally released.
The focus of the poster is undoubtedly the newly-crowned King of Wakanda, T’Challa. As regal as Chadwick Boseman looks on his new throne, there’s also another major detail about the poster that’s seeming to go unnoticed – the new logo.

At the bottom of the image, between the Marvel banner and the February release date, sits the Black Panther logo. If you follow the MCU films very closely, it’s easy to see that this isn’t the same one that has been used in all of the studio’s promotional material to this point.
The previous logo had been black, with a lens flare at the bottom of the words, and a simpler style of lettering.
However, when you examine the new logo, it seems as though the studio was going for a more regal style to match the elegance of Wakanda.
The obvious change here is the color. The logo was originally tan/gold, it switched to black a while back, and now it’s a light blue. The color shifts all throughout the lettering, giving it the effect of an open sky or a beautiful gem. It also helps to invoke the classic color from the comics when they couldn’t print it in all-black.
The other big changes include the font itself, the angle of the words, and the length of specific letters. The “N” in Panther stands out the most.
The poster also came with the announcement that the first teaser trailer for Black Panther would arrive on Friday night, during Game 4 of the NBA finals.
