Sometimes a hero’s job is to bring hope and a little joy. That’s exactly what Black Panther actor Chadwick Boseman did for a young boy named Ian Anderson, who is battling brain cancer.

Ian was diagnosed in November, and there aren’t many options to fight it (via Fox5DC). Ian’s mother Kara Anderson said, “There isn’t a treatment for the type of brain cancer he has, it is terminal, so we just really just make the most of everyday and hopefully inspire others.” Black Panther is Ian’s favorite superhero, and Boseman is filming the Black Panther film in the area, so he stopped by the hospital to visit him. It couldn’t have come at a better time either. “Honestly, there really aren’t words to express everything he’s been going through and lately it’s been a little tougher, it’s started to wear and tear on him a little bit that he’s not like the other kids,” said Anderson.
Boseman brought some gifts with him for Ian, including some Black Panther action figures. He spent the whole afternoon with him and signed some autographs while he was there. “We kind of go off the theory of laughter heals and joy heals, and happiness heals, so that’s how we live every day because we honestly don’t know what tomorrow is going to bring. So, for him to have a moment like this, and be able to jump up, I was afraid he might fall, and run to him and hug his hero, is, there really aren’t words,” said Anderson.
This is the sort of battle you have to take day by day, and Ian’s mom started up a Facebook page for others to follow Ian called Ian’s Journey of Courage. She hopes their stories can help others who are also experiencing adversity. “Make the most of each day. It is so easy to get caught up in the negativities. Just really choose to make a mindset of focusing on the positive. It makes all the difference in the world,” said Anderson.
You can help Ian’s family with their medical bills directly by heading to their GoFundMe page.
