Fans have been paying close attention to casting news for Deadpool 2 over the past few months, and it is time they tuned in yet again. Actors like Josh Brolin and Zazie Beetz have been brought on already to play Cable and Domino respectively – but there are other actors waiting to hear back about their roles. Not long ago, a series of Deadpool 2 audition tapes made their way online, and they give fans a look into one of the sequel’s characters.

Thanks to Omega Underground, auditions from Killian Scott and Charley Palmer Rothwell have been unearthed on the Internet. Between the two stars, Rothwell appears to have the more extensive tape given his multiple auditions, but Scott gives a stand-out performance in his brief scenes.

Both actors are seen auditioning for a role known as “Mike,” and the dialogue they are asked to read is pretty intense. In Scott’s go, the actor is shown spitting lines like the following:

“Our gifts are unique we’re made for each other. Okay, fire and the ultimate fuel. And the man with the silver arm is gonna come back here for you and when he does, we’ll have a chance to be free this fucking steel. Okay? And if you take with you, I can protect you because I have control of the monster down below. He can protect the both of us, right? This is how I see it give us a bit of time to make things right.”

So far, there is no fan-consensus about who “Mike” could be referring to from the Marvel canon. Some have speculated the role could be Black Tom, but that role is being tentatively tied to the recent add-on of Jack Kesy. The audition tapes house dialogue which hints that Mike has a sort of demon within him, and the character wonders aloud about becoming someone other than himself. These thoughts may just be dummy lines written up for the auditions only, but the notes are worth speculating.

Scott and Rothwell are not the only stars who’ve had audition tapes turn up for Deadpool 2. Another clip was found of La La Anthony from Power giving a go at the film. Her tape was labelled as “Neena/Deadpool 2,” so the star may have been vying for Domino’s role.

Deadpool 2 currently has a 4.18 out of 5 ComicBook.com User Anticipation Rating, making it the fifth most anticipated upcoming comic book movie among ComicBook.com readers. Let us know how excited you are for Deadpool 2 by giving it your own anticipation rating below.

David Leitch will direct the sequel, taking over for original Deadpool director Tim Miller. Fox is reportedly aiming for a June start of production in Vancouver. Ryan Reynolds will return as Wade Wilson, a.k.a. Deadpool, the Merc with a Mouth. For the sequel, he’ll be joined by Josh Brolin as Cable. Cable was co-created by Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld and Louise Simonson. He has often been paired with Deadpool as his grim, serious demeanor serves as the perfect foil to Deadpool’s crude and zany humor. The duo headlined an ongoing comic book series, Cable & Deadpool, for 50 issues.

Atlanta star Zazie Beetz has also been cast in Deadpool 2. She will play Domino, a mutant with probability manipulation abilities that endows her with improbably good luck. In the Marvel Comics Universe, Domino was a member of Cable’s mercenary crew, Six Pack, and one of his early love interests.

Deadpool 2 opens in theaters on June 1, 2018.
