It’s not everyday Ryan Reynolds gives an impromptu set tour of Deadpool 2, but it’s not everyday the actor meets a boy like Daniel Downing. The kid is one of Deadpool’s biggest fans, and Reynolds was more than happy to make a dream come true for Downing with a recent video chat.

Earlier this month, 5-year-old Downing had his world turned upside-down when he was diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer. The Marvel enthusiast was sent reeling by the news, and Downing’s parents are doing what they can to lift his spirits. As such, they were able to arrange a phone call between Downing and Reynolds, and the whole exchange was caught on camera.
In the video above, fans can watch as Downing chats with Reynolds and gives the Canadian actor a big smile. The Deadpool star was happy to speak with his fan, and Downing even got to show Reynold’s his Deadpool t-shirt.
“Ah that’s awesome, what an awesome T-shirt!” Reynolds said. “You know, I’m the only guy who doesn’t have one of those T-shirts. I need to get one of those.”
Despite being a bit young, Downing admitted he has seen Deadpool several times now despite its R-rating. When Reynolds learned about the boy’s love for Wade Wilson, he told Downing he was actually standing outside of the set for Deadpool 2. Reynolds then gave the boy a brief digital tour of the set.
This isn’t the first time Reynolds has reached out to his fans when they are in need. Last year, the actor supported a 13-year-old fan of his named Connor McGrath. The boy was undergoing treatment for cancer, and Reynolds flew out to meet Connor in Alberta to debut a special screening of Deadpool for the boy.
“This is my friend, Connor McGrath. He’s quite possibly the biggest #โDeadpool fan on earth,” Reynolds revealed. “He was also the first person ever to see the Deadpool film.”
“I know lots of celebrities jump up and down touting a cause — and maybe I’m no different. But holy frozen s**t-slivers, I love this kid. He’s the GREATEST.”
