Did Avengers: Infinity War First Look Reveal The Major Battle Scene?
On Friday, Marvel Studios unveiled the first look at Avengers: Infinity War -- the two part [...]
The Set
A set which was subtly displayed in the Avengers: Infinity War first look video.
Looking at it more closely, this is clearly a cosmic set. The Avengers have made their way to the cosmos. The Guardians are with them. There has to be a reason for this.
This set is looks like it is the place where the Avengers, the Guardians of the Galaxy, and the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe will unite to fight Thanos, once and for all.
There are three places we may have seen this set before, indicating its importance...
Infinity Gauntlet
Also featured in the first look video was a shot of the Infinity Gauntlet story from Marvel Comics.
Fans expect the Avengers: Infinity War films to be heavily based on the Infinity Gauntlet story to the big screen, forcing the Avengers to stop Thanos from using the Infinity Stones to destroy worlds.
The final battle which saw Captain America, Thor, Iron Man, Spider-Man, Silver Surfer, Adam Warlock, the Hulk, the X-Men, and more taking on the Mad Titan took place on a floating entity in space where Thanos liked to hide out. In the comics, it had the look of a temple where Thanos would worship Death but we have seen his favorite cosmic floating rock in a previous Marvel Cinematic Universe film...
Guardians of the Galaxy
In 2014's Guardians of the Galaxy, Ronan pays a visit to Thanos.
We don't see him actually travel to the location but Thanos is sitting comfortable in his floating chair on a gigantic rock which appeared to be in middle-of-nowhere space.
If this turns out to be the location which Thanos lays his head at night (assuming Mad Titan's sleep), then it's a good possibility we have seen the location of Infinity War's major battle sequence.
Avengers: Age of Ultron
Most importantly, the set on display in the Infinity War first look video might be the larger scale version of what we saw in Avengers: Age of Ultron in 2015.
When Wanda Maximoff forced a dream sequence upon Tony Stark, he had a vision of the Avengers dead somewhere in the cosmos. Stacked upon rocks, Captain America's broken shield lay beside a defeated Thor, a dead Hawkeye, and a lifeless bunch of super heroes.
This scene is consistent with the Infinity Gauntlet storyline, indicating that it is something we should prepare for in Infinity War.
All Together
While we only hear from Robert Downey Jr., Chris Pratt, and Tom Holland in the video, we know there are many more Marvel Cinematic Universe actors currently in Atlanta. Black Panther is also in production, too.
It would make sense for the Russo Brothers to knock out the climactic battle sequences and bring all of the necessary cast members to Atlanta, Georgia at the same time in order to offer a more convenient schedule for the cast and save money on the crew. No need to be flying cast members in and out to shoot ensemble sequences sporadically.
The Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy have assembled!
