And that’s just the lowball estimates. More generous estimates suggest that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 could earn up to $170 million domestically as it opens in 4,347 locations. Disney is being cautious with it’s estimates, suggesting that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will take in $140-150 million in its first three days.

Should Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 cross $160 million in its opening weekend, it will become only the 11th movie ever to do so.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 earned $17 million in Thursday night preview sales alone. That’s the third-highest Thursday night preview gross for a Marvel Studios movie, falling behind Avengers: Age of Ultron at $27.6 million and Captain America: Civil War at $25 million.
