Former WWE superstar Dave Bautista, who portrays the big, lovable, metaphor-challenged warrior, had childhood dreams of being DC’s King of the Seven Seas. “I wanted to be Aquaman [growing up],” Bautista told US Weekly. “Aquaman was my favorite superhero when I was a kid. I know it’s an odd answer. I never heard anyone else say they wanted to be Aquaman, but I did. Subconsciously, I may have wanted to communicate with sea life or animals somehow.”
As for Michael Rooker, the blue-skinned Ravager and surrogate father to Peter Quill, he took a liking to the Green Golitath — someone that would erupt like a volcano if he was continuously provoked. “I was a big Hulk guy. I identified with him because I was one these little kids that was a quiet, little kid until I was pushed and pushed and pushed and pushed. And I became an 11-year-old Hulk. I could pick up that tricycle and throw it a mile!”
