Recently, Colter appeared at Houston’s Comicpalooza where he spoke with fans about Luke Cage. Thanks to MCU Exchange, the Internet knows it was there that Colter shared his hopes for Luke Cage‘s comeback. When asked about the show’s second season, Colter had this to say:

“I’m about to start next month. When the Defenders comes out on August 18, that’ll be something we can hold onto for a little while and we can enjoy that. And hopefully, we’ll get to see Luke Cage out early next year,”

Of course, it will be some time until fans are given an exact release date for the show. Netflix tends to keep its premiere dates on the down-low until official announcements can be made. Fans may not learn about Luke Cage‘s comeback date until a month or so beforehand. This year, The Punisher is set to have his solo series released, but fans have yet to learn the show’s release date. For all they know, Netflix could drop the show next week.

Don’t worry though; That shouldn’t happen. At least, no one thinks.

When it comes to Netflix’s upcoming line-up of Marvel titles, it has a packed schedule. The next series to drop will be the highly anticipated miniseries about the Defenders. Then, The Punisher will get his standalone show before Jessica Jones has a comeback. The series recently began filming its second season. After that, it seems likely that Netflix will roll out Luke Cage‘s new season before Daredevil makes a comeback. While the latter series has been green-lit for a third season, no updates about the project’s filming schedule has been released thus far.

Marvel’s The Defenders was developed by Douglas Petrie and Marco Ramirez. The miniseries will also feature Sigourney Weaver as the villain, Alexandra (Sigourney Weaver), and several recurring guest stars from Marvel’s Daredevil, Marvel’s Jessica Jones, Marvel’s Luke Cage, and Marvel’s Iron Fist, including Eka Darville as Malcolm Ducasse, Simone Missick as Misty Knight, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, Carrie-Anne Moss as Jeri Hogarth, Scott Glenn as Stick, Rachael Taylor as Trish Walker, Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple, and Jessica Henwick as Colleen Wing.

Marvel’s The Defenders premieres on Netflix on Aug. 18, 2017.
