Marvel HeroClix: The Mighty Thor features the return of Super Boosters, each one containing a colossal-sized HeroClix figure. WizKids has provided ComicBook.com with an exclusive preview of one these colossal figure, the monstrous Mangog! Take a look below:
Mangog goes by many formidable names in the Marvel Comics universe, including the Hatred who Walks, the Living Vengeance, and the Ultimate Judgment. In HeroClix, he comes with two keywords: Minions of Thanos, and Cosmic.
Mangog is one of the few beings in the Marvel Universe capable of drawing the Odinsword from its scabbard, and that is represented by his HeroClix trait Pull the Odinsword, which reads: “Once per game, if Mangog completely occupies an opponent’s starting area and hasn’t been moved or placed by another friendly character this game, turn his dial to the next starting line higher than his current starting line, and that becomes his new starting line and point value.” That means that players can start Mangog on his 150 point dial and upgrade him to a 400 points figure, or start at 400 points and upgrade him to 700 points.
While Mangog is primarily a melee monster, he has one special power that gives him some ranged capabilities. Sliver of the Odin-Force reads, “Penetrating/Psychic Blast with a range value of 8.” Coupled with Running Shot and high damage values, that makes Mangog just as terrifying at range as up close.
Finally, Mangog also has the same low point, single click starting line with a combination of Colossal Indifference and Colossal Retaliation powers that accompanied many other modern HeroClix colossal figures. Mangog’s is a 30-point starting line with the Impervious Colossal Indifference which reads “STOP. Impervious. If Mangog began the game on the 30-point starting line, he can’t attack smaller characters except via Colossal Retaliation.”
Mangog’s Colossal Retaliation: Multi-Powered Tail reads: “If no other Colossal Retaliation power has been activated this turn, choose an opposing character that attacked Mangog or damaged a friendly character since your last turn. Place Mangog such that he can make a close attack targeting the chose character and all other opposing characters within 3 squares and line of fire then do so. Hit characters are dealt 4 damage instead of normal damage. After resolutions, make a close attack targeting each opposing character within 2 squares and line of fire. Hit characters are each dealt 3 damage instead of normal damage.”
Look for Mangog and more when Marvel HeroClix: The Mighty Thor hits comic book and game stores on Aug. 30, 2017.
