Marvel’s The Defenders is the highly-anticipated crossover event between the four acclaimed Netflix series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist) – which made it a one-of-a-kind event at San Diego Comic-Con 2017.

During the SDCC panel for The Defenders, we finally got a more light on a subject that Marvel fans have been buzzing about ever since the first Defenders trailer was released online: What role will the resurrected Elektra Natchios (Elodie Yung) paly in the show?

While at the Defenders panel during SDCC, Elodie Yung revealed just how Elektra will fit into The Defenders storyline. According to the actress, Elektra is getting a sort of mental reboot:

Basically Elektra is amnesiac, she’s trained by Alexandra to be some sort of a weapon. How much of the Elektra that we all know remains? Well, we will find out.

That sounds like there’s plenty of room for Elektra to follow her traditional Marvel Comics story arc, coming back from death to the side of villainy at first, but eventually finding her way back, in order to become a full-fledged anti-hero figure in the Marvel Universe.

The Defenders stars Charlie Cox (Daredevil/Matt Murdock), Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones), Mike Colter (Luke Cage), Finn Jones (Iron Fist), Jessica Henwick (Colleen Wing), Rosario Dawson (Claire Temple), Sigourney Weaver (Alexandra), Elodie Yung (Elektra Natchios), Babs Olusanmokun (Sowande), Elden Henson (Foggy Nelson), Simone Missick (Misty Knight), Rachel Taylor (Trish Walker), Scott Glenn (Stick), Eka Darville (Malcolm Ducasse), Debbi Morgan (Delores), Carrie-Anne Moss (Jeri Hogarth), and Deborah Ann Woll (Karen Page).

Daredevil seasons 1 and 2, Jessica Jones season 1, Luke Cage season 1, and Iron Fist season 1 are all available on Netflix now, while The Defenders is expected later in the year. The Punisher does not currently have a release date. Netflix has announced a second season of Jessica Jones and a third season of Daredevil, but no release dates have been announced for those either.
