People reports that the two movie stars wed in the island of Ibiza (off the coast of Spain) over the weekend, at the “luxurious La Granja Farmstead resort.”
Rumors had begun to swirl when Fassbender and Vikander were spotted on the island with friends and family, with Vikander sporting a conspicuous white gown.
Like many Hollywood couples, Fassbender and Vikander met on the set of a film, the 2014 drama The Light Between Oceans, in which they played a husband and wife living in a lighthouse who discover an abandoned baby and try to raise it as their own. A mutual respect of their respective talent drew them to one another (Vikander has an Oscar; Fassbender has been nominated for two), and though they kept the relationship very private, by the 2016 awards season (where Vikander became a breakout star) they were clearly an item.
Fassbender has become a geek movie icon thanks to his roles as a younger Magneto in the X-Men movie franchise, and his starring role in the Assassin’s Creed video game movie. We’ll next see him in the 2018 sequel X-Men: Dark Phoenix, while Vikander will be taking over the role of Lara Croft from Angelina Jolie for the 2018 reboot of Tomb Raider.
We wish the couple the best, and hope they enjoyed this happy occasion in their lives. You can check out photos of the wedding here.
