Interior artist Javier Garrón takes his shot in IvX #3, joined by color artists Andres Mossa and Jay David Ramos along with series co-writers Jeff Lemire and Charles Soule. Garrón does some heavy lifting in this issue, depicting the various battles going on in the Savage Land and the World, the artificial construct created in the wake of the Weapon X Program.

Mossa and Ramos’ colorwork excels in this issue, bouncing between the worlds of Limbo, the Savage Land, the World, and the X-Men’s base of operations. They make deft use of Garrón’s fine linework, adding weight and depth to the drastically different landscapes. The pallet of Limbo is a stark contrast to that of the Savage Land, deep crimson and faded hues against bright light sources and heavy foilage.

And while the issue deals with the imprisonment of the Royal Family—ending on a cliffhanger revealing the fate of Black Bolt—as well as Karnak’s impending battle against Jean Grey and Fantomex in the bowels of the Weapon Plus Program’s hideout, Garrón choreographs a few superpowered battles between Old Man Logan, Forge, and the Nuhumans Iso and Inferno.

It’s surprising to see the Nuhumans fare so well against the experience and power sets of Forge and Old Man Logan. Especially considering one is supposed to be among the smartest, brightest minds in the Marvel Universe, while the other is the Best There Is At What He Does (and what he does isn’t very nice).

But someone has to lose in this battle of evolutionary superpowers, and Forge and Old Man Logan drew the short straws.

Check out the gallery to see the battle and let us know how you feel in the comments. Did Inferno get the best of Old Man Logan? Or do you expect the former Wolverine to extract his vengeance against the Nuhuman?
