Though the character debuted in Captain America: Civil War, Spider-Man: Homecoming will mark the character’s first solo film in the MCU after two other film series kept the wall-crawling, web-slinging action self contained.
But Parker won’t be going it alone as Robert Downey Jr. is set to reprise his role as Tony Stark in the new film, giving Spider-Man an experienced mentor in the form of the Armored Avenger AKA Iron Man.
Holland spoke to Yahoo! about the prospect of working with Downey Jr., as well as his character being mentored by Tony Stark in the film, and what they both mean to his experience as an actor and his opinion of the overall film.

“I mean, could I be luckier?” Holland said. “Robert is like the nicest guy. He’s so cool, he’s so down to earth. It’s just amazing to work with him because he’s what I would consider to be at the top. And if I’m ever lucky enough to make it to the top, I’d like to think that I would be exactly how he is. He’s always on time, he’s respectful, he’s kind, so he’s a good role model for me and a great friend as well.”
Holland added that Iron Man‘s inclusion in the movie is a great way to welcome Spider-Man to the greater Marvel Cinematic Universe.
“But to have Tony Stark in the movie is like the perfect touch, the perfect amount of Avenger to make this movie really feel like a homecoming to the MCU.”
