In addition to the Doctor Strange footage packed into the beginning of the trailer, various other bits of new footage are scattered throughout the new trailer.

Thor: Ragnarok is directed by Taika Waititi with a screenplay by Eric Pearson. The film stars Chris Hemsworth as Thor and Tom Hiddleston reprising his role as Loki. They are joined by Cate Blanchett (Hela), Idris Elba (Heimdall), Jeff Goldblum (Grandmaster), Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie), Karl Urban (Skurge), Anthony Hopkins (Odin), Sam Neill, Ray Stevenson (Volstagg), Tadanobu Asano (Hogun), Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner/Hulk), and Benedict Cumberbatch (Dr. Stephen Strange).

The Changes

Several changes are made to the San Diego Comic-Con trailer for Thor: Ragnarokย in this new international promotion.

One of the moments, however, is the Comic-Con trailer featured the first appearance ofย Taikaย Waititi’sย CGIย portrayal of Korg, Thor’s rocky buddy from Sakaar. This has apparently beenย removed from the trailer in favor of a less focused action sequence which appears to be from the same moments.

“Thor meets [Korg] onย Sakaarย and he’s one of the gladiators. He becomes Thor’s mate,”ย Waititiย said. “Originally it only started off as a very small role โ€” hey, it wasn’t me, I didn’t do it โ€” but the role’s gotten bigger now.”

Doctor Strange

While Doctor Strange’sย first trailer appearance coming in this new spot,ย the true first look at his involvement in Thor: Ragnarok came in the form of a post-credits scene attached to Doctor Strange.ย

In the scene, the Sorcerer Supreme explains how he keeps a running list of otherworldly threats to his planet. Among those names is Thor’s brother Loki, who Thor has apparently brought to New York in search of their father, Odin. There was also a fun gimmick of Strange’sย bottomless beer mug being given over to Thor, so the characters might just get along when Thor: Ragnarokย comes along.
