Scott Haze will reportedly be joining the film in a mystery role, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Haze is best known for starring in the James Franco-directed film Child of God. He can be seen in several films headed to theaters in the near future, with roles in the fireman drama Only the Brave and the Miles Teller-led Thank You For Your Service.
Venom will star Tom Hardy as the titular character, with Michelle Williams, Riz Ahmed, Jenny Slate, and Reid Scott all appearing in currently secret roles. Zombieland‘s Ruben Fleischer will be directing, and 50 Shades of Grey‘s Kelly Marcel is writing the latest draft of the script.
A lot of Venom is currently still under wraps, but recent rumors suggest that the film will be adapting the ‘Lethal Protector’ Marvel Comics storyline. Even with a lot still unknown Venom co-creator Todd McFarlane has high hopes for the movie, judging by what he told ComicBook.com during New York Comic Con.
“The thing that’s warming my heart is they’re saying it’s going to be R.” McFarlane explained. “So now the question is (and I haven’t read the script), like what does that mean? Because again, we’ve seen a couple ‘R movies’ right? I mean we’ve seen Logan and we’ve seen Deadpool… So it would be interesting to me to see what they do. I mean I know what I would do if they gave me that character; I would scare the sh*t out of people with it. I don’t know if they want to go that far with it, cause again, you can sell a lot of shirts and toys if you don’t completely scare people, so it will be interesting.”
Hopefully we’ll hear more Venom news in the near future, as the film is reportedly set to start filming within the next month.
