A Bunch of Scooby-Doo Movies Return to Streaming for Halloween (But Some of the Best Are Still Missing From Services)

Scooby season is upon us! Okay, so it’s technically Spooky Season, but what would the Halloween festivities be without a group of meddling kids and their pup named Scooby-Doo? The monster-hunting icons are a staple of this time of year for fans of all ages, and those fans got a huge treat at the start of October, as many of the beloved Scooby-Doo movies made their way back to the world of streaming.

On October 1st, both HBO Max and Paramount+ saw an influx of Scooby movies, giving subscribers some great options leading up to Halloween. The HBO Max additions shouldn’t be surprising, given that the Warner Bros. streamer is the most common home of the franchise, but seeing so many animated Scooby adventures pop up on Paramount+ is something many didn’t have on their bingo cards.

Which Scooby-Doo Movies Are Streaming?

The start of the month saw the two live-action Scooby-Doo movies (written by Superman’s James Gunn) return to the HBO Max lineup. The first of those films is also available to stream on Prime Video, while Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed is exclusive to HBO Max.

Unfortunately, there are far fewer Scooby-Doo options on HBO Max than you’d expect, given the Warner Bros. involvement in the franchise. The only two animated Scooby movies on the service are Trick or Treat Scooby-Doo!, the 2022 entry that is widely considered one of the franchise’s best, and the CG-animated Scoob! from 2020.

Paramount+ actually has more Scooby movies than HBO Max, thanks to its big wave of additions on October 1st. The service added animated adventures Scooby-Doo and the Alien Invaders (2000) Scooby-Doo! and the Legend of the Vampire (2003), Scooby-Doo! and the Loch Ness Monster (2004), Scooby-Doo! in Where’s My Mummy? (2005), and Chill Out, Scooby-Doo! (2007). Paramount+ also added the 2010 live-action film Scooby-Doo! Curse of the Lake Monster, but that’s not usually one a lot of fans are dying to revisit.

Some of Scooby’s Best Movies Aren’t Streaming

Even with all of these new additions, most of the Scooby-Doo movies are missing from major streaming services. The majority of these films can be purchased or rented on-demand (or purchased physically, which is always the best option), but they can’t be found on any service lineups.

Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island (1998) is widely regarded as the pinnacle of these feature-length cartoons, but it’s not available on any services this Halloween season. The same goes for Scooby-Doo! and the Witch’s Ghost (1999), Scooby-Doo! Camp Scare (2010), Scooby-Doo! and Kiss: Rock and Roll Mystery (2015), and Scooby-Doo! and the Reluctant Werewolf (1988). Even recent releases like Happy Halloween, Scooby-Doo! (2020) and Scooby-Doo! and Krypto, Too! (2022) are absent from lineups. That last one is especially surprising, given the recent release of the new Superman movie on HBO Max.

Which of these Scooby-Doo movies is your favorite? Are there any you’re especially disappointed not to see streaming this Halloween season? Let us know in the comments!
