The series only ran for six issues, so there was only about one movie’s worth of story within the pages. A sequel was immediately given the green light, and it would move forward with a brand new story that wasn’t told in the comics.

The Golden Circle won’t be the only new story told in the Kingsman series though, as there is also a new set of comics set to release this year.

Following the release of the first Golden Circle trailer last night, Mark Millar announced that another Kingsman comic would be coming in September. He didn’t offer much detail on the project, other than the fact that it’s called Kingsman: The Red Diamond.

Judging by the change in names, it’s likely that the comic and movie storylines will be separate. However, there’s always the chance that the comic could serve as some kind of tie to the film, coinciding with its release.
