New Year’s Eve is officially upon us, giving people plenty of opportunities to celebrate the past while ringing in 2018. If you’re scrambling to make last-minute plans for tonight, one recent Twitter trend is here to help.
Over the past week, Internet users have shared various “If you start…” tweets, which recommend various pieces of pop culture for people to consume on New Year’s Eve. The general idea is that if you begin watching or listening to something at just the right moment on December 31st, a particular verse or scene will be the first thing you hear in 2018.

A lot of these tweets have covered songs or random YouTube videos, but quite a few have ventured into the various corners of geek culture. Perhaps the most perfect one is Iron Man 3, which would sync your New Year’s celebration perfectly with Tony Stark’s. But there are plenty of other awesome recommendations as well, from Marvel movies to anime to other movies and television shows.
