The sixth installment in the Resident Evil film franchise was supposed to begin filming in 2014 but it was delayed due its star, Milla Jovovich, getting pregnant. And once filming began in late-August of this year, it got off to a rocky start when a stuntwoman was severly injured crashing into the metal arm of a malfunctioning camera. Besides all of that, filming has gone smoothly in South Africa since, with lots of smiles plastered across the faces of the cast and crew. Time to head home.
“Last day shooting Resident Evil: The Final Chapter!!” Jovovich posted on her official Instagram account. “It’s so exciting to finish and I really know you guys are gonna flip when you see it!”
Below, check out some more behind-the-scenes images from the set of Resident Evil: The Final Chapter.
Picking up immediately after the events in Resident Evil: Retribution, humanity is on its last legs after Alice is betrayed by Wesker in Washington D.C. As the only survivor of what was meant to be humanity’s final stand against the undead hordes, Alice must return to where the nightmare began โ Raccoon City, where the Umbrella Corporation is gathering its forces for a final strike against the only remaining survivors of the apocalypse. In a race against time Alice will join forces with old friends, and an unlikely ally, in an action packed battle with undead hordes and new mutant monsters. Between losing her superhuman abilities and Umbrella’s impending attack, this will be Alice’s most difficult adventure as she fights to save humanity, which is on the brink of oblivion.
Resident Evil: The Final Chapter will be distributed in the U.S. by Screen Gems in January 2017.
