These days, nostalgia has given Hollywood a new lease on life thanks to a slew of revivals. Franchises like Gilmore Girls and Full House have been brought back to life with clear success, and other series are doing the same. From 24 to The Ant, studios are looking to make bank off beloved shows from years past. Of course, fans have put in their own revival requests over the years, and no fans have been more persistent than those who worship Buffy the Vampire Slayer. And, now, one of the show's stars has made it known whether he would return for a reunion.
"No, never; that's done, see ya, next. I have no problem with the cult audience, and I would totally get back into the genre, but I'm not a big reunion guy. I tend to like to go forward. I don't like to go backward---except when I've got ice skates on my feet and I'm playing hockey," he said.
Of course, the actor's answer is not the one fans were hoping to hear. Boreanaz was a key member of Buffy as the actor played Angel, a surly vampire who tended to keep his emotions close to heart. The character was so popular he even received a spin-off after Angel left Buffy in its fifth season. Today, fans still squabble over Angel and his legacy with the franchise, so some may be okay with Boreanaz not returning for a reunion.
However, it would be harder to do without Sarah Michelle Gellar. The actress played the series' titular heroine, and she has said time and again she's okay with letting Buffy rest in peace.
"I have always believed that what was so unique about the show was the use of horrors of those formative years," Gellar told The Hollywood Reporter. "With high school and college as a backdrop, we were able to address racism, identity, bullying, guilt, death, first love and heartbreak using the demons as metaphors for the demons we all experience. I am not sure how that translates into adulthood, although I am sure it could. The burden of saving the world a lot always weighed heavily on her, so for her sake, I hope she is somewhere on a beautiful beach located far away from any Hellmouth."
