Universal Pictures' Furious 7 raced out to a fast and furious at the global box office with $384M.

Furious 7's $384M is the fourth best opening weekend at the worldwide box office. That puts it just above 2011's Transformers: Dark of the Moon ($382.4M) and just behind the 2012 Marvel film The Avengers ($392.5). The global box office opening weekend champ is 2011's Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 with $483.2M.

The seventh film in the series opened in 63 markets overseas and has already grossed $240.4M. Mexico ($20.8M), United Kingdom/Ireland ($19M) and Germany ($15.2M) are the international markets that are giving the film the most boost. It still hasn't opened in three major markets: Russia, Japan and China.

Stateside, the film pulled in $143.6M, which set the highest April debut ever.

Furious 7 is on pace to become the first film in the Fast and Furious series to crack the billion dollar mark. Congrats!

Continuing the global exploits in the unstoppable franchise built on speed, Vin Diesel, Paul Walker and Dwayne Johnson lead the returning cast of Fast & Furious 7. James Wan directs this chapter of the hugely successful series that also welcomes back favorites Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Chris "Ludacris" Bridges, Elsa Pataky and Lucas Black. They are joined by international action stars new to the franchise including Jason Statham, Djimon Hounsou, Tony Jaa, Ronda Rousey and Kurt Russell. The film was written by Chris Morgan.

Furious 7 is now playing!
