Good news for fans of Harry Potter who can’t make it to London’s West End this summer. The scripts for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Parts I & II will be released in print following the play’s premiere. Specifically, the print version of the play will be released on July 31, Harry's birthday.
A Special Rehearsal Edition of the script book will be released following the play’s debut. This edition will include the script used in preview performances and will later be replaced by the Definitive Collector’s Edition, which will include the updated script used during the play's official run.
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is the official eighth story in the Harry Potter saga. The play takes place 19 years after the events of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and focuses on Harry, now working for the Ministry of Magic, and his youngest son, Albus Severus Potter.
Pottermore also announced plans to release new, special editions of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone in the United States), the first Harry Potter story, to celebrate the novel’s 20th anniversary. Four special editions of the book will be released in the United Kingdom, one for each house at Hogwarts. No word on whether these special editions will make it stateside.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, which has inspired motion picture trilogy of its own, will also see a new edition in 2017, with new content from author J.K. Rowling. The book will also be included with new formats and editions of the Hogwarts Library books - Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them,Quidditch Through the Ages and The Tales of Beedle the Bard.
