The Harry Potter films might have ended back in 2011, but the franchise continues to spawn new films and experiences, as any attendee of Universal's World of Harry Potter or Harry Potter and the Cursed Child will tell you.
The universe is expanding again thanks to J.K. Rowlings Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them, and to celebrate the momentous occasion the studio has joined up with Moleskine to create two limited edition notebooks for the holiday season.
The first edition is the Marauder's Map Clothbound notebook, which is inspired by the magical parchment that reveals the entire layout of Harry's school. the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Once you open up the book you'll notice those familiar footsteps peppered around the school, and the cover is made to look just like the famous parchment upon which its based. It will also come with an exclusive sticker set that features spells and symbols from the franchise, like the Golden Snitch and Hogwarts crest, and will also include the initials of Harry's parents (James and Lilly) on the inside cover.
The second edition is the Patronus Charm Burgundy notebook, which features an image of a young wizard casting the Patronus charm to fend off Dementors. The image is coated in debossed Gold and includes a subtle background image of a Stag, which is Harry Potter's Patronus guardian. This notebook will also come with the sticker set and his parent's initials on the inside cover.
You can view closer looks at both of these limited edition notebooks in the gallery, and if you're interested in grabbing one you can head to Moleskine's official site. Each one will retail for $24.99.
While there is only one small amount of material upon which the premise is based, that isn't keeping Fantastic Beasts from recently expanding to a five film slate. The original doesn't even release until later this year, but the studio seems to be fully confident that it can capture the same kind of magic the original Potter series did, and Rowling is screenwriting those films as well.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is an all-new adventure returning us to the wizarding world created by J.K. Rowling. Academy Award winner Eddie Redmayne (The Theory of Everything) stars in the central role of wizarding world magizoologist Newt Scamander, under the direction of David Yates, who helmed the last four Harry Potter blockbusters. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them opens in 1926 as Newt Scamander has just completed a global excursion to find and document an extraordinary array of magical creatures. Arriving in New York for a brief stopover, he might have come and gone without incident...were it not for a No-Maj (American for Muggle) named Jacob, a misplaced magical case, and the escape of some of Newt's fantastic beasts, which could spell trouble for both the wizarding and No-Maj worlds.
Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them brings the world of magic to theaters on November 18.
