In this era of comic book saturation of the mainstream media, perhaps it should no longer be surprising when a comic book-based TV show makes it onto The Tonight Show.
...And it wouldn't be, if the show were The Flash or Agent Carter. But when it's iZombie, a show based on a cancelled, creator-owned comic that hasn't yet aired? That sticks out.
As you can see above, he didn't actually name-drop iZombie, but the description -- "about a zombie medical student that eats the brains of dead people and inherits their memories to solve crimes" -- is very obviously the series based on Chris Roberson and Mike Allred's late, lamented Vertigo title.
Roberson noticed:
So yeah, a joke about iZombie in the opening monologue of The Tonight Show. That's, um, surreal.

iZombie launches on The CW at 9 p.m. ET/PT on March 17.
