Jurassic Park 4

, for which the hugely in-demand director Colin Trevorrow was location scouting just last week, has been officially delayed until the filmmakers and the studio can get a grip on the production, Universal Pictures confirmed today. There is no new release date yet. "In coordination with filmmakers, Universal has decided to release Jurassic Park 4 at a later date, giving the studio and filmmakers adequate time to bring audiences the best possible version of the fourth installment in Universal's beloved franchise," the studio said today in a statement. "We could not be more excited about the vision that Colin Trevorrow has created for this film, and we look forward to watching as he and the producers create another great chapter in this franchise's storied history." That's all well and good, but yesterday technical employees on the film began tweeting that the production had been halted, suggesting there might be more at play here than just taking the time to get the location scout and special effects right. Trevorrow and his co-writer Derek Connolly are working from a draft they rewrote, originally by Rise of the Planet of the Apes' Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver. Whether it's the script or something else that needs work, Trevorrow is also committed to Disney's Flight of the Navigator remake, a movie that might step into first position if JP4 really is in for a long delay.
