In the Marvel Universe, New York City is where many of its heroes hang their tights, capes, or billion-dollar armor. Dating back to the Golden Age of comics, the City That Never Sleeps has been a staple of Marvel lore, a piece to several characters’ identities as a crucial as the powers that make them super-heroic. Captain America and Spider-Man hail from working-class neighborhoods in Brooklyn and Queens. The Avengers’ Tower and Fantastic Four’s Baxter Building nestle next the to the Empire State Building in Manhattan. Daredevil protects the crammed streets of Hell’s Kitchen.

It makes sense, then, that Marvel would commission a variant cover series honoring their real-world residence. Coming this May, Marvel will release 15 different variants showcasing their most iconic heroes (which is to say, the ones with multimedia deals) in New York City’s most iconic locations.

Of the 15 covers coming , Marvel has revealed four so far. They feature the Hulk finding his inner Zen in Central Park, Ant-Man eating the local delicacy that is the cart hot dog, Agent Coulson taking Lola for a spinย around The Statue of Liberty, and Daredevil leaping through Manhattan’s skyscrapers.

“Each cover is carefully considered to make a statement about New York,” Marvel Editor-In-Chief-Axel Alonso told The New York Times. In that case, there better be a cover with an Avenger either crammed inside a subway cart or charging tourists for photos in Times Square.
