R2-D2 Gets A Gundam Upgrade

While BB-8 is getting all the hype these days, every Star Wars fan knows that R2-D2 is still the baddest droid in the galaxy. One Italian artist has taken a unique approach to showing just how tough the astromech droid is.

Italian modeller Lemcat reformatted a Hi-Mock Gundam model kit to create a "Hi2-D2 advanced automech" droid. The souped up R2-D2 not only has beefed up arms and legs, he also retained his familiar droid accessories, which now look a lot more dangerous in R2's Gundamized hands. This R2-D2/Gundam hybrid looks like it could win an arm wrestling match with Chewbacca or punt BB-8 like a puny soccer ball.
