Rogue-One

At the Disney shareholders meeting Thursday, chief Bob Iger introduced Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, the first of the standalone films, bringing live-action movies that aren't part of the episodic story to the big screen.

Iger didn't really say anything new about the film, according to a report by Slashfilm, simply re-iterating the one-liner of the story, which is about the members of the Rebel Alliance brought together to steal the Death Star plans, as noted in the opening crawl of Star Wars, later subtitled Episode IV: A New Hope. The timeframe is not news to anyone who has seen that first movie, of course.

Some images were shown, however, that were new to the movie's promotion. There were shots of an all-black uniform stormtrooper, an image of two AT-AT walkers with a side-door panel, and photos and a short clip of Felicity Jones' character inside a ship, and quick shots of Diego Luna and Donnie Yen.

We should look to April's home release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens as the possible starting point of the Rogue One promotional campaign, when we might get to start seeing this sort of thing ourselves!
