Netlix's Stranger Things is a terrific show that cherry-picks the best elements from classic science-fiction and coming-of-age films from the late-70s to mid-'80s, such as Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977), Alien (1979), E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial (1982), The Goonies (1985) and Stand by Me (1986).

Needing a monster that would be on par with the creatures featured in some of the aforementioned films, Stranger Things came up with a faceless beast, which is referred to as the Demogorgon. This carnivorous monster comes from the Upside-Down, a dark, cold, and toxic alternate dimension.

In the album directly below, you'll find final and alternate designs for the Upside-Down monster. The artwork was created by conceptual artist Nuttavut Baiphowongse.

The second album features keyframe art from the Aaron Sims Company, including a look at the Upside-Down world and the inter-dimensional rift/gate inside of Hawkins Laboratory.

A love letter to the supernatural classics of the 80's, Stranger Things is the story of a young boy who vanishes into thin air. As friends, family and local police search for answers, they are drawn into an extraordinary mystery involving top-secret government experiments, terrifying supernatural forces and one very strange little girl.

Stranger Things stars Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Natalia Dyer, Cara Buono, Charlie Heaton, and Matthew Modine.

Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer (Wayward Pines, Hidden) serve as writer, directors and co-showrunners of the series, and are executive producers along with Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen via their 21 Laps entertainment banner (The Spectacular Now, Night At The Museum, Real Steel, Date Night). Shawn Levy also serves as director.

The original series Stranger Things is now available to stream on Netflix.
