The Rock's Hercules Changes Its Release Date

, the forthcoming mythological epic starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, has moved its release date from August 8, 2014, back to July 25 of the same year.

The Brett Ratner-directed film is the first installment of a potential franchise. Its original release date would have seen it open a week after Guardians of the Galaxy. Now, the film will open the week after The Hobbit: There and Back Again and X-Men: Days of Future Past.

It's probably not unlikely that either X-Men or The Hobbit will move, since it's difficult to imagine that the two will open on the same day and then, a week later, also be competing with another major tentpole release.
